About Us
SP Dance has been an established Arts and Cultural club in Singapore Polytechnic since 1980s. The cub has therefore built up its membership over the years and now has a wide repertoire of dance pieces. The club traced its humble beginnings as a cheerleading club. Over the years, dance was infused into the club. As of now, SP Dance offer two genre of dance, namely, Modern Dance and Hip hop
Modern Dance
Led by Ms Wong Wai Yee since 1999, the dancers are technically trained in Modern dance. As our modern dancers come from a wider variety of dance backgrounds, the performances put up will be exciting and unique! During the club's annual WAVES dance concert, student choreographies are one of the features which are not to be missed. The modern dancers dance to many genre music from slow pop ballads to Jazz to contemporary.
Hip Hop
Hip hop was officially introduced in July 2005 and headed by professional artiste Daniel Yeow, the dancers were taught the fundamentals of Hip-hop. At the same time, they were exposed to the various styles of Hip-hop such as, J/K Pop, Old school, Locking, B-boy, modern Hip-hop and many more funky and groovy styles. Though new, the dancers show great potential and talent through their hip and energetic performance.
